Description
This kit is used for the in vitro quantitative detection of procalcitonin (PCT) concentration in human serum/plasma or whole blood samples.
Procalcitonin (PCT) is a protein containing 116 amino acids with a molecular weight of 13KD. It is a precursor hormone of calcitonin, which is normally secreted by thyroid C cells and hydrolyzed by intracellular proteolytic enzymes. PCT content in healthy people is extremely low, at less than 100pg/ml. Patients with bacterial infection, sepsis, and septic shock had increased blood PCT levels up to 1000 times higher than baseline levels, and were positively correlated with infection and prognosis. Therefore, PCT is a noninvasive clinical laboratory indicator for the diagnosis and treatment of severe bacterial infections.
This product should be used together with the fluorescence lateral flow immunoassay analyzer produced by Prometheus Bio Inc. It can be used in medical and healthcare institutions.
